Indigestion causes physical discomfort, abdominal pain, burning etc. Many avoid many types of food due to this fear. So here are the home remedies for you, which will give you quick relief from indigestion problem.

* Ginger is reputed to reduce stomach discomfort and improve digestion. You can take ginger supplements, ginger candy or drink ginger tea to relieve indigestion.

* Chamomile has long been used as a treatment for indigestion. It can soothe the stomach and intestinal tract. Try drinking three-four cups of chamomile tea a day.

* Mint can relieve indigestion, intestinal muscle spasms and nausea. You can take peppermint capsules (peppermint oil supplement) two to three times a day to relieve indigestion. If you like mint tea, boil one and a half teaspoons of dry mint leaves in a mug of water. Then you can make tea and drink it hot or cold. Mint is not recommended if you have heartburn.

* Chewing fennel seeds is another effective way to get rid of indigestion. The oil extracted from these seeds can reduce intestinal muscle spasms, indigestion, nausea and gas. You can also drink tea made with two to three teaspoons of fennel seed powder.

* You can mix one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with half a mug of water and drink it. It can be especially effective in relieving or preventing indigestion in those who have a habit of eating food with belching.

* Stir a teaspoon of baking soda in a mug of water and drink it. This solution neutralizes stomach acid and reduces gas and bloating. You can add few drops of lemon juice to increase the effectiveness of this solution.

 

What to do to avoid indigestion

* Fructose in fruit juice can cause stomach pain and gas, as it passes undigested into the colon. So drink fruit juice after meals to prevent negative reactions.

* If cheese or other dairy foods cause gas and bloating, you may be lactose intolerant. If you are prone to indigestion, eliminate lactose from your diet.

* Eat food slowly and chew it. If you do not chew your food, air enters the body and can cause gas and flatulence.

* Eat at least three hours before going to bed. Because food is not digested well during sleep.
