What is kimchi Food?

Kimchii is a type of traditional, mildly spicy Korean sauerkraut made from fermented vegetables. Its primary veggies are commonly napa cabbage, daikon radish, and carrots. Garlic, ginger, and Korean pepper (gochugaru) are brought for flavor.

 

How does kimchi taste?

The main flavor notes you’ll find in kimchi include sour, spicy, and umami. The taste can even vary relying on the greens you pick, the duration of fermentation, and the amount of salt or sugar. Because kimchi is a fermented food, its most prominent flavor is usually sour.

Why is kimchi so delicious?

Traditionally, kimchi consists of Napa cabbage, garlic, ginger, gochugaru (pink pepper flakes), salt, and scallions. However, the star of the show is the good bacteria in the cabbage, which facilitate the fermentation process that gives kimchi its sour, sour, and umami flavor.

 

Is kimchi just cabbage?

Kimchii / Kimchii (김치) is a traditional Korean side dish made from fermented cabbage, radish or cucumber. It is often classified by the main vegetable ingredient used to make it. Kimchii is a staple in Korean cuisine. Most Koreans eat it at least once a day with almost every Korean meal.
