He was very scared when he suddenly got blood from his nose. Don’t understand what you should do at that time. At this time, if you don’t get scared and hold your nose for a while, the bleeding will usually stop.

However, it is important to know the cause of nosebleeds. If proper treatment is taken according to the cause, the risk of bleeding in the future is not much.

Type of nosebleed

There are two types of nosebleeds. Some bleed from the front of the nose and some from the back. Trauma and dry nosebleeds are usually from the front of the nose. This bleeding happens quickly. It is usually not serious unless there is a problem with blood thinning or blood clotting.

Bleeding from the back of the nose can be fatal. This results in excessive swelling and heavy bleeding.

Causes of nosebleeds

Dryness of the nose: Dryness of the nose is one of the main causes of nosebleeds. A room heater or AC can cause dryness inside the nose. Also, the nose can become dry due to low humidity in winter. During the dry season, a dusty environment can also cause the same condition. The nasal membrane dries up and a hard coating falls there. Pricking off this coating with a finger may result in bleeding. Drink enough water to keep the nose from drying out. If necessary, you can use saline nasal spray.

Injury to the nose: Even minor injuries to the nose can cause bleeding. Get medical advice if you have severe nosebleeds or nosebleeds. Otherwise, the situation may worsen.

Cold and Seasonal Allergies: Cold and seasonal allergies can cause a runny nose. Repeated blowing of a cold can tear blood vessels in the nose and cause bleeding. It is not good to repeatedly touch the nose to clear a runny nose. If there is a lot of sneezing due to colds and coughs in winter, the blood vessels in the nose start to bleed through small cracks. But there is nothing to fear.

Hereditary diseases: Hereditary diseases such as hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) can cause frequent nosebleeds. A doctor should be consulted if the nose bleeds repeatedly. Blood cannot clot due to frequent bleeding. As a result, a small amount of bleeding can sometimes lead to more bleeding or serious conditions.

Drug reactions: Some drugs can cause nosebleeds. Blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin or warfarin, which are taken to treat heart disease or stroke) can make minor bleeding more serious. Know whether there is a risk of nosebleeds before taking the medicine.

Nose growth: Abnormal or strange growth of the nose may occur. These include polyps (balloon-like lumps), abnormal changes in nasal tissue, and tumors. Tumors in the nose are rare but can cause bleeding. Visit a nose specialist to get rid of frequent bleeding.

What to do if the nose bleeding?

Do whatever if the nose bleeds suddenly.

If the nose bleeds, straighten up and sit on a chair leaning slightly forward. Close both nostrils tightly with your thumb and index finger. Breathe through the mouth. Keep this for 10 minutes. Do not release your finger during this time, press and hold for longer if necessary. At this time, if possible, keep ice on the forehead, and around the nose. Then the bleeding will stop quickly. If the bleeding continues for more than 15-20 minutes, go to the ear, nose, and throat department of the nearest hospital without delay. Consult a doctor even if the nosebleed stops. Because it is important to see if the nasal bone is broken or not. Refer to an ear, nose, and throat specialist for repeated bleeding.

Caution

Do not sleep during the blood test. Blood can go to the lungs and cause complications. Even if the bleeding stops, do not clean the nose for several hours, do not lean forward, and bring the head below the level of the heart. It may start bleeding again.

In addition, many people advise keeping the head back and face upward when bleeding from the nose. But this leads to the possibility of swallowing blood. There may even be breathing problems. Sit up straight and hold your nose with your fingers. This usually stops the bleeding.
